Defendant Laughs in Court About Killing Cops

An illegal immigrant from Mexico laughed during his trial in Sacramento and threatened to break out of prison and kill more cops.

According to the Sacramento Bee, Luis Bracamontes is on trial for killing Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Danny Oliver and Placer County Deputy Michael Davis Jr. back in 2014 during a spree of violence that covered two counties.

Bracamontes's public defender, Jeffrey Barbour, told the jury his client was responsible for killing the two deputies.

"He shot them both," he told the jury on Tuesday.

Barbour said this only moments after Bracamontes repeatedly interrupted trial proceedings to heckle the courtroom.

“I wish I had killed more of the mother******,” he told the jury. Laughing, Bracamontes continued, “I will break out soon and I will kill more, kill whoever gets in front of me ... There’s no need for a f****** trial.”

The defendant's comments forced the judge to temporarily remove the jury from the room to admonish Bracamontes.

"You will not disrupt this trial, you will not speak out," Superior Court Judge Steve White told him. "If you do, you will be removed from the courtroom."

Bracamontes, 37, is on trial along with his 41-year-old wife, Janelle Monroy. He faces the death penalty while she could spend the rest of her life in prison. According to authorities, Bracmontes lived in the country for more than a decade before being deported in 1997 and again in 2001 because of drug- and weapon-related arrests.
