Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix docuseries has finally landed a release date... kind of. According to People, their highly anticipated show is set to drop on the streaming platform in December but an exact date has yet to be shared with the public.

The docuseries has reportedly hit many road bumps since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex inked a multi-year deal with Netflix in 2020. After Queen Elizabeth II passed in September, reports claimed that the royal couple was at odds with the creators of the show for wanting to make last-minute edits.

“Harry and Meghan are having second thoughts on their own story, on their own project,” a Netflix source told Page Six in early October. Another industry source said, "Harry and Meghan are panicked about trying to tone down even the most basic language. But it’s their story, from their own mouths.”

Furthermore, some sources claim that Harry and Meghan "contradict" their own stories in the series. “A lot in the show contradicted what Harry has written, so that was an issue," a 'senior Netflix source' reported. "Then Harry and Meghan made significant requests [to filmmakers] to walk back content they themselves have provided, for their own project."

The docuseries has been in production for over a year and the royal couple is believed to have talked about many members of the royal family including King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.

In Meghan's Variety cover story, she suggested that the docuseries didn't turn out the way she and Harry had hoped. "It's nice to be able to trust someone with our story — a seasoned director whose work I've long admired — even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it," she said of director Liz Garbus. "But that's not why we're telling it. We're trusting our story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens."
