2nd Graders In Ohio Make Cards For Damar Hamlin

Students at an Ohio elementary school make “get well soon” cards for Damar Hamlin. When word got out about Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffering cardiac arrest on the field during the Bills' game against the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this week, students in Beth Martin’s second grade class had lots of questions.

Martin says her students at Kilgour School in Cincinnati wanted to do something to help Hamlin. So they all decided they would send him “get well soon” cards. The students got out their art supplies and made several cards for Hamlin, who is still recovering in a Cincinnati hospital.

The cards contain heartfelt messages, like only a second-grader can write. One student writes, “You are so brave. Even though I am a Bengals fan, I am still a fan for you.” And another says they hope the cards will make him happy, adding, “He's not from here, so I want him to feel like he's welcome." Martin says that little kids can often feel helpless a lot of the time and the cards have given them a chance to feel like they can make a difference.
